Everyone deserves to understand their rights, not just those who can afford a solicitor.
For too long, the legal system has worked for those who already have power. Not the tenants facing eviction, unsafe homes, or losing their deposit.
Everyday housing issues like evictions, deposit disputes, or unsafe living conditions can quickly spiral into something unmanageable. Most tenants are left feeling overwhelmed, unsure what their rights are, or how to protect their tenants legal rights when things go wrong.
Justice moves slowly and the costs can rack up quickly. Too often, people give up because they think legal help is out of reach.
We’re here to change that.
We built Contend to give tenants clarity, confidence, and a fair chance to stand up for themselves, no matter their income or background. We’re here to make tenants legal rights clear, actionable, and accessible for everyone. To help the people who’ve been priced out of the system for too long, or left waiting weeks for answers they urgently need.
We’ve reimagined how legal help should work by removing the confusion and making the process simple and clear for everyone. Here’s how we support tenants across the UK:
We explain your situation in plain English so you know exactly where you stand.
Step-by-step guidance to help you decide what to do next.
Tailored support for repairs, rent increases, deposits, and eviction notices.
Official letters created in minutes, ready to send.
Contend began with two people who saw, firsthand, how unfair the system can be; especially for renters.
They set out to build a platform that uses technology responsibly, never to replace humans, but to make justice more human.
A service built around real people’s lives, challenges, and rights.
Mike has spent his career at the intersection of law and technology, helping legal teams modernise the way they work. His personal experiences taught him just how hard it can be to find safe, reliable legal information when money is tight and that belief drives everything Contend stands for.
A lawyer and software engineer, Will has always been passionate about improving how legal work gets done. Contend brings together his expertise in law, tech, and human-centred design, all to make legal help faster, fairer, and easier to access.
Kathryn Strachan is Contend’s marketing lead, specialising in strategic positioning, AI-driven growth, and simplifying complex legal-tech for real people. She helps shape the brand, scale demand, and ensure renters get clear, trustworthy guidance when they need it most.
Tim Capes is an ex-Apple ex-Samsung ML and Software Engineer with over a decade of experience. He is also a competitive gamer who won a bronze medal in Sydney at the World Youth Bridge Championships and had a second place finish at the EPICTCG World Championships.
